Two wines

A couple of very good summer drinking wines tried in recent days.

2014 Wandering Lane Riesling

Sourced from Great Southern grapes for Byron and Harold Estate at Wandering, it has a pale straw hue, floral citrus blossom aromas, while the palate abounds with lemon and lime zest flavours, fresh acidity supporting a soft, slightly minerally finish. This is great current drinking but as with all Great Southern Rieslings, should age with some grace. (92)

Carpene Malvolti NV 1868 Extra Dry Prosecco Superiore

I have been quite taken with some of the prosecco we have tried recently and this one is no exception. Pale yellow, it shows green apple and lemon aromas, with a fine, persistent bead and a creamy mousse. Pronounced lemon flavours on the palate, a creamy mouthfeel, and a crisp, clean and elegant finish. Best for current drinking. (90)
