Around this time last year we went along to one of the best wine tasting events experienced – organised by the Great Southern Wine Producers Association (GSWPA) it is a celebration of the Queen of Grapes, Riesling.
Now Australia is blessed by the amazing Rieslings produced – from those of the Clare and Eden Valleys in South Australia, the wines from the Canberra District, where Ken Helm in particular makes brilliant Riesling, and to all of the cool climate areas of the country including Tasmania and Henty, but those of the Great Southern region of WA are up there with the best; in fact they may be THE best – Denmark, Frankland, Mt Barker, Porongurup, Albany sub regions all turn out Rieslings of immense quality.
The GSWPA holds this annual event to showcase these wonderful wines. In the grounds of the Royal Perth yacht Club, with fabulous finger food, Jerry Fraser shucking away, and this year a chance to win accommodation prizes in the Great Southern, 2015 promises to be another fantastic day.
Abbey Creek, Castelli, Castle Rock, Gilberts, Howard Park, Trevelen Farm, Zaraphath and many more will be on display and if you love Riesling – and if you don’t you should – then Raising Riesling is an essential event.
Details on how to book tickets are contained in the above flyer.
