Louie’s Pizzeria along the Swan Street/Terrace Road strip in Guildford is always a top spot to sit back and relax while chomping on a high quality pizza. It is only open Friday and Saturday evenings and is pretty popular especially when the weather is like it is at the moment – the long Indian summer lingering with fine, clear and cool nights. All al fresco, an open fire cart keeps the chill away!
On our recent visit we ordered their Margherita with the addition of anchovies to add a little salty flair – out it came on a nicely chewy crust and with a good spot of charring on the base, tomato, cheese, basil – what more could you want? Well I want chilli and that comes in small jars which I could liberally add to mine, while keeping it well away from my chilli-shy wife.
BYO, and with classic tumblers to drink from – we had a bottle of a lovely Margaret River Cabernet Malbec from Paul Conti – to help wash the pizza down; aromatic bouquet of blackberries, blackcurrants, black olives and violets; juicy, smooth palate of ripe plums, mulberries and finishing with a gravelly, earthy note – a good drink on a very good night.
Louies continues on its merry way – good pizza in picturesque surrounds in the heart of the strip – good pizza, good times.
