When COVID restrictions eased back in June 2020, my first port of call in Northbridge was to one of my favourites – Thai restaurant Louder Louder – and a very enjoyable visit it was. So with a spring in my step off I went again last week noting a number of new season dishes were featuring on the menu.
It looks good inside – I particularly like the stripping away of the ceiling to expose the corrugated iron roof – and the outdoor area on the porch, looking over the street, complete with umbrellas is just the ticket in warm weather– and the al fresco area is also dog friendly so you can bring along the faithful hound. They have a range of seating options inside and we quickly moved into one of the booths, as it was filling up fast. This is a very popular place, deservedly so.
As you would expect the menu includes a range of noodle dishes, rice dishes, curries, Thai salads, soups and stir fries. A small but well put together wine list has some interesting wines and we ordered one of the wines on special – a bottle of Ochota Barrels Surfer Rosa – to accompany our food. Grenache with a splosh of Pinot Noir this is an excellent rosé- raspberry and cherry aromas with a lick of spice, and a palate full of cranberry and rhubarb flavours with a slightly salty finish. Perfect with spicy food.
We began as we usually do here with a plate of their outstanding prawn cakes – the best around town -crunchily crisped hiding an interior of juicy, succulent chopped prawns and with a creamy spicy dipping sauce.
Then onto one of the new dishes – Tamarind prawns – large juicy prawns cooked in the shell in a sour, medium spiced sauce. Asparagus and broccoli added extra crunch. Outstanding new addition to the choices on offer.
Finally, a plate of chilli snapper – succulent fried snapper cooked with zesty red sauce, more crisp asparagus – excellent. All of the fish dishes here are noteworthy.
Another top notch lunch, living up to all expectations. Louder Louder is one of the very best Thai restaurants in Perth and is absolutely recommended.
