Friday drinks with the FWO

Another Friday, and another selection of wine for your consideration. All excellent, too….

Snake and Herring 2016 Vamos Tempranillo

Delicious Tempranillo from Snake and Herring. 2016 Vamos is bright red purple with a bouquet of cherries, blackcurrants, vanilla and black olives. Dusty tannins with flavours of black cherries, liquorice and prunes. Tried this at Market Grounds in Kings Square.

Dormilona 2018 Tinto

2018 Tinto just released. Made from Shiraz it is light easy drinking style full of bright cherry and strawberry aromas; juicy red berries on the palate, touch of chocolate. So good. Although I think the person labeling this bottle has a little too much Tinto before whacking the label on…you may be able to see the crease running up the front! Get it at No Mafia.

Fermoy Estate 2014 Cabernet Merlot

2014 Cabernet Merlot. This sat very well with our food at Padbury’s in Guildford. The bouquet is full of red berries, mint and spice. Smooth palate showing flavours of plums with milk chocolate and a hint of liquorice.

Azienda Agricola Olek Bondonio Vino Bianco

Orange wine made from Arneis by Piedmont vigneron Olek Bondonio. Vino Bianco has lifted pear fragrances, chalky tannins, rich apple and apricot flavours. Pouring at No Mafia at the moment.

Delinquente 2017 Roxanne the Razor

Love the name of this. Roxanne the Razor from the Delinquente Wine Company. Spiced plums on the nose with hints of tobacco. Light juicy palate of mulberries and blueberries, a touch of mint; fresh light and spicy. Bought this at Gooseberry Hill Cellars.

Lancaster 2017 Old Vine Shiraz

The 2017 Old Vines Shiraz from the Swan valley – plum jam and black pepper aromas abound while the palate is rich and smooth and full of ripe plum flavours. Bought from the winery in West Swan Road.

Lancaster 2017 9 Rows Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2017 9 Rows Cabernet Sauvignon from the Swan Valley has a waft of violets on the nose along with blackcurrant aromas. Fine tannins support mulberry and blackberry flavours. From the winery.
