Friday drinks with the FWO

A few more suggestions….

Each Other’s Wine Company Frankland Rosé

An impressive rosé. Made from Semillon and Tempranillo by Dan Wegener and Jo Perry. Each Other’s Wine Company Frankland rosé has a lovely apricot hue. A little funkiness on the nose at first with raspberries and nectarines shining through. The palate has notes of lime marmalade, berries and finishes crunchy and dry. Enjoyed at Dan’s new wine bar in Highgate, Harvey Leigh’s.

Heretic Wines 2017 Red

2017 Heretic Red a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Savagnin from two Yallingup vineyards and put together by talented young Margaret River winemaker Dan Stocker. Cherries and plums on the nose; palate of liquorice, prunes and cloves. Lovely drinking. Bought this at Settlers Liquor on our last trip to Margaret River.

Jane Brook Mountjoy 2016 Shiraz Cabernet

This has aromas of plums, blackberries and cinnamon. The medium bodied palate full of the flavours of cherries, liquorice and cloves. Good cold weather drinking. This bottle was part of a dozen ordered from Wine Selectors

Xavier Wines 2017 Shirley Rose

From Xavier Goodridge, the 2017 Shirley Rose is made from 100% Yarra Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Cloudy with an orange pink hue and a fragrant bouquet of strawberries and cherries as well as some funky flor notes. The palate is crunchy with bright acidity, flavours of juicy red fruit and spice. Pouring at Shadow Wine Bar.

Snake and Herring Prototype Cabernet Merlot

Snake and Herring Prototype Margaret River Cabernet Merlot hit the spot – blackberries, mulberries and herbs on the nose; a smooth palate of plums and a touch of dark chocolate. Easy drinking, indeed. Sampled at Northbridge Brewing Company during last week’s Chilli Festival.

Riverbank Rebellious 2017 Rosé

It has a fragrant bouquet of crushed rose petals and Turkish Delight, with a clean, crisp palate redolent of cranberries and rhubarb; just a little mid palate sweetness too, a perfect warm weather drinker! Had this at the winery in the Swan Valley.

2017 Sud de Frank White Blend

A blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Petit Manseng from Adelaide Hills and Clunes in NSW. Bouquet of apricots and lemon blossom, crisp crunchy palate of lime pith and lemon. Had this a while ago at No Mafia.
