Had lunch recently at Wok Master a Hunan style Chinese restaurant in Lake Street, Northbridge – it is obviously popular from the crowd there and the size and value of the dishes make it clear why.
Observing other tables, we opted for one main, a vegetable side and rice, and that proved more than enough for two of us.
A large bowl of fried prawns with chilli set the scene- crunchily fried prawns cooked in their shells, with a spicy sauce of chilli – both chopped fresh and dried and fried – and spring onions made for an enjoyable and zesty lunch – with rice to mop up the sauce that was probably all we needed, but our supporting vegetable dish hit the spot as well.
A simple fry of cabbage and chilli in a salty sauce helped us through the remaining rice.
Wok Master is licensed but they are happy with BYO as well – and our bottle of rosé complemented the spiciness of the food.
As I said and extensive menu with all manner of interesting offerings; good sized dishes; good value – worth a visit especially if you want a little spice in your life.
