Sister to the longer established Northbridge Brewing Company, the Whitford Brewing Company has opened at Whitford City shopping complex. It is an inviting and modern dining and drinking space, spread over two levels, a rooftop area with ocean views for those approaching summer days.
The craft beer, produced by master brewer Ken Arrowsmith (his image used to appear on Emu Bitter cans in days gone by) under the Beerland brand, includes regular brews as well as seasonal batches – the best way to try is with a beer paddle which allows you to sample the range and then settle in with the beer of choice – for me it is always hard to go past the Beerland IPA, or the Pale Ale – excellent drinking!
There is a good range of wines and cocktails, too, if that is your bag.
The food is unashamedly pub style – but of generous size and good quality – fish tacos, chicken wings or 5 spice squid to start for example, then on through a range of pizza, burgers, steaks to fish and chips, spaghetti marinara and slow cooked pork belly. And you shouldn’t pass up the onion rings which are a favourite of mine at the Northbridge outlet.
The opening of WBC will be a boon for the northern suburbs in the warmer months now on their way. You should get down and try it out, soon.
