Union Kitchen

Union Kitchen at Mindarie is so dog friendly they have a special menu for our furred friends – puppacino, muttshake, cheezi katz, banana paws or woofz anyone? They even have dog beds so your hound can catch up on a spot of shut-eye while you enjoy your breakfast.

And enjoy your breakfast you will –among other dishes, the menu offers eggs all ways, with a variety of sides; fruit salad bowl; a breakfast burger with bacon, eggs, hash browns and HP sauce; croissant with bacon, tomato and scrambled eggs; and pumpkin, leek and feta fritters.

Their Big Breakfast lives up to its name – bacon, pork snags, hash browns, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, a couple of eggs cooked to your order along with toasted crusty bread – enough for two I think, and it was a struggle to get through it. But all well-cooked – the bacon with a nice crisp, the sausages juicy and succulent, well poached eggs, and the beans particularly tasty.

Our other choice – a large, fluffy oven baked Spanish omelette filled with capsicum, ham and potato, came with wilted spinach, roasted tomato and chorizo – and with a side of the excellent bacon again was enough for a small army.

With well-turned out coffee – a latté and a cappuccino – and exceptionally attractive views of the ocean, this is a very appealing breakfast and coffee and cake spot – and the number of dogs in attendance speaks to its popularity among that segment of the population (and their owners of course!) too.

Waiting close to an hour for our 3 meals and bottle of wine for lunch, only to be told our docket had been missed. Food (average food) arrived a short time after, when we queried where our wine was, we were told rudely to come to the counter as there was no transaction for the wine.
We went up to the counter only to be argued with by the male manager on duty that it didn’t get put through and called me a liar.
I understand if it didn’t get put through, mistakes happen, the issue was that we had double checked after ordering the wine that the transaction had gone through as it was paid for on a seperate card.. and were advised that yes it had definitely been put through.
Then continue to be shut down and argued with by this manager who couldn’t possibly admit he may have made a mistake, but that I was in the wrong and needed to give him a break..
we decided to just leave it as we clearly weren’t getting anywhere with it and return to our seats.
The manager then approached us at our seat and told us again that the transaction wasn’t put through which I accepted, it was the fact we both got told it had gone through..
and when I said to him that I just wanted to leave it he told me I came in being aggressive toward him.. Which there is no way I was being aggressive, I was only being confident in what I was stating. After being told I was aggressive I just said okay let’s just let it go. He then returns inside only to stare me down every time he walks by.
A simple issue that could have been resolved if the right management team was involved. Disgusted with the service and after all that the food was quite average. Regular customers who spend at least $100+ each visit, will not return after the way we have just been treated. That isn’t good customer service
