Cottesloe’s Boatshed Markets (located in the sheds where Australia II was built), now has a dedicated wine market, the Wine Loft. Built from retrofitted shipping containers it is suspended over the main shopping and produce floor – very eye-catching indeed.
Under the stewardship of Terri Seeber – who has extensive experience in the wine and hospitality industry most recently as Manager and Sommelier at the fabulous Shadow Wine Bar in Northbridge – the Wine Loft has a great array of wines from many smaller and new wave producers, both from Australia and overseas that you just don’t see at many other stores around town.
On my recent visit I managed to pick up a couple of bottles of Pet-Nat from La Violetta and Blind Corner, as well as one of the excellent Sunshine and Hercules Riesling from Brave New Wine; all wonderful examples of minimal intervention WA wines.
As well as the wines and spirits on offer, the Wine Loft also hosts regular events for wine lovers, with details on the Boatshed Markets website. Also on the website they list some of the more interesting new arrivals.
The Wine Loft is open Monday to Saturday from 9AM to 9PM, and on Sunday from 10AM to 9PM.
If you love wine, and are looking for something a little out of the ordinary, then the Wine Loft is one of the places you should head towards.
