The Swan Valley Café in Millendon is a vegetarian haven in the Valley – all food is vegetarian and gluten free – and along with many vegan, raw and dairy free dishes they cater to lovers of fresh and healthy food. And they are licenced too – selling a range of local and Eastern States sourced organic wines to enjoy in the little café and lovely outdoor garden area.
They are well known for their lattes – and those we sampled – turmeric, matcha and beetroot – were refreshing and looked so inviting – a range of naturopathic teas are also offered – each with a particular health emphasis.
Anyway to the food – it was uniformly delicious – the raw marinated mushrooms filled with walnut pâté were excellent – the meatiness of the mushrooms complemented by the creamy nutty walnut mix.
And another very impressive dish were the chickpea kofta balls pimped up with Middle Eastern spices – these were sublime and I could have eaten many more – they come with either a mild dipping sauce (which we had) or a more fiery choice – which will be on the list for next visit.
We finished with a sample of the cakes and slices on offer – more sweet treats – and a great companion to the range of hot and cold drinks served at this wonderful little discovery in the Swan Valley. Definitely a must when out and about the vineyard trail.
