The Odin Tavern in Erindale Road, Balcatta, has been around for many a year and is one of the most popular pubs in the near northern suburbs – a friendly and welcoming place with attentive and friendly staff, and very good value meals.
A pleasant beer garden, a sports bar, a TAB and a bistro, as well as bottle shop make it a place to head to if you live around the area, or indeed are visiting from further afar.
The menu is classic pub food – generous serves, well cooked, good value – and the regular specials make it even more so. Steak sandwiches, fish and chips, various steaks, burgers, calamari, pasta and pizza, salads and of course chicken parmi, all make an appearance.
The T-bone, 300 grams, was served medium-rare as requested, juicy, pink and tender, and came with a rich, earthy, mushroom sauce – chips and vegetables – nicely done.
The chicken parmigiana was equally up to scratch – very good tomato sauce, a lot of oozy, melted cheese, salty bacon and of course tender, succulent chook,- also served with crisp chips and vegetables cooked with butter and garlic. Again full of flavour and a very good value classic pub meal.
A Peroni and a lemon, lime and bitters accompanied the food, and all in all an enjoyable lunch hour was passed at the Odin.
This is a family run pub, good food, good drinks, friendly and hospitable – top spot.
