Earlier this year, we noticed coffee shop O2 in Old Perth Road, Bassendean, had expanded, added a pizza oven and more importantly a liquor licence – and so we were keen to get along again to see how all was progressing after the closures caused by COVID.
In a renovated shop front opposite the pub it has been nicely done up with exposed bricks and rafters, interesting light fittings and plenty of greenery. A bar and the oven is off to one side and an ordering counter towards the back on the other side just outside the kitchen.
We sat in a window seat and enjoyed a couple of glasses of rosé – at $7 for a good sized glass of Clairault from Margaret River, this is one of the best wine deals around I reckon. Lots of strawberry aromas, with a dry palate redolent of raspberries, with a splash of citrus.
With the wine we ordered a pizza – mushrooms, brie, truffles – on a fluffy, crisp base- a well turned out pizza indeed.
Service was friendly, prompt and welcoming and with the added attraction (for us) of wine to enjoy with our meal, we think O2 is just the place to spend a quiet lunch hour along the Bassendean shopping strip.
