Part of the Adina Hotel and Perth Convention Centre complex in Mounts Bay Road, Metro Bar and Bistro is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner each day, or just for a casual drink or coffee. It also does a good trade in events and this is what drew Lady FWO to the bistro earlier this week – a work function on one of the terrace event spaces. What follows is her report on the venue.
It is a well set up spot, and the food, if the function fare is anything to go by, is both well-cooked and well presented.
The a la carte menu features standard bistro style food – Scotch fillet, marinated lamb rump, risotto, grilled prawns, burgers and pizzas, as well as a range of salads, sides and sweets. Some of the starters on the menu appeared on the dishes served at the function.
The platters of food at the event included crumbed and chilli dusted squid, tender and succulent, with a zesty lift; chicken and lemon grass spring rolls; steamed pork dumplings; wild mushroom tartlets; oozy leek and cheese arancini, and what was a dead- set hit, 12 hour slow cooked pork belly served with crispy crackling and apple sauce.
The wine list is smallish but has representatives from Australia and overseas, and it is good to see a few WA wines making the list – Credaro, Snake and Herring, Cape Mentelle, Chestnut Grove and Mandoon Estate among them.
Lady FWO sipped on a couple of glasses of Barossa rosé which, with its dry crisp palate complemented the food on offer.
All in all Metro Bar and Bistro seems to be well worth a visit, I will be off soon to have a look around and try the food and drink on offer. Can’t think why I haven’t been there yet….
