A recently opened restaurant in Hillarys, Lot One Kitchen has a modern and attractive look and feel – the fit out with exposed brick walls, funky hanging lights, ultra-modern chairs and comfortable looking leather sofas around the place. It was however packed and so seating out on the veranda was required – but they have heaters for these somewhat less that warm mornings!
The Brunch menu has a fine range of choices – from rolled oat porridge, buttermilk pancakes, to chicken bone broth, Cuban sandwich, salmon and snapper cakes, and crispy Malay chicken among the offerings.
Beef brisket – slow cooked, deliciously tender, sat on a crispy hash brown, with a soft, oozy fried egg sitting on top and spiced up with chimichurri sauce – generous serving and good value.
The Lot – and it was! – included smoked bacon, pork and fennel sausages – particularly good – eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, hash brown, house made baked beans and toast – another high quality and great value meal.
Service was friendly and welcoming, and on a very busy morning, prompt and efficient – the only slight misstep, the coffee could have been a touch warmer.
Lot One Kitchen looks to have a bright future judging from the crowd who came along for brunch, and the very good food – oh and they also have a barista on the outside deck for passers-by to grab a cup of coffee as they wander past.
