Lot One Kitchen has certainly built a loyal following over the past couple of years since it opened in Hillarys, just a hop, step and longish jump from the Boat Harbour. With an attractive and comfortable feel – exposed brick walls, eye catching lights, a variety of seating options, interesting and innovative menu it draws large crowds, and especially for weekend brunch.
The Brunch menu is indicative of the offerings – many and varied – and the Lot, an extremely large serving of traditional breakfast dishes took some getting through. Smoked bacon, pork sausages, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, hash brown, house made baked beans and toast – a great value meal.
Baked Spanish Eggs also proved a winner – eggs cooked in a pork and three bean ragu, with chorizo adding a dash of mild spice, spinach, fetta, avocado and ciabatta – another generously sized and satisfying meal.
Something a bit different from the usual breakfast/brunch offerings was a dish of chicken pimped up with Malay spices, and served with a salad of cucumber, coriander, mint, sprouts, peanuts, red cabbage and splashed with curry mayo – spot on!
The final dish of the day the Lot One Burger – a couple of juicy beef patties, melted smoked cheddar, onion jam and tomato served with crisp, floury chips. Very good, too.
Service was friendly and welcoming, and on a very busy morning, prompt and efficient.
Lot One Kitchen has a lot going for it and the crowds pay testament to that.
