After a week off for the long weekend, another selection of wines for your enjoyment….
2017 Fourth Wave Wines See No Evil Rosé
Coolly elegant rosé from Fourth Wave Wines in the Riverland. Pale salmon hue, aromas of cherries and rose petals. Dry palate with notes of raspberries, cranberries and spice. Blend of mainly Grenache with a dash of Ruby Cabernet. Drank this at Taste of China, Main Beach, Gold Coast.
Attollo Wines Malbec 2015 Black Wine
The 2015 Black Wine from Margaret River is by name and colour spot on…deep dark black purple with a bouquet of ripe plums and violets and some spicy notes. The smooth palate is alive with characteristic chocolate, liquorice and dark fruit. Quite grippy tannins give hints of long life. Beautiful. Bought this at Settlers Liquor Store on our last trip south.
Vinaceous 2015 The Raconteur Cabernet Sauvignon
Another colourful label from Margaret River’s Vinaceous Wines. Mint and mulberries on the nose while the rich palate is oozing plum, tobacco and blackberry flavours. Enjoyed this Jelly Fish on the Brisbane waterfront.
Skigh Wines 2017 Koda Rosé
A beauty of a rosé from Skigh Wine. Strawberries and spice on the nose, pale salmon hue and a dry as a bone palate of pomegranates and cranberries. Just delicious. Enjoyed this at a great new Northbridge restaurant Yes Please Perth.
Houghtons 2014 Crofters Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2014 Crofters Cabernet Sauvignon from the Frankland. Aromas of plums, blackcurrants and spice; medium bodied palate of plums, chocolate and mulberries. Beautiful drinking. Enjoyed this at Houghton Winery Café.
Nikkal Wines 2017 Pinot Noir
Lovely little number from Yarra Valley producer Goodman Wines. Their Nikkal Pinot Noir has an attractive bouquet of cherries and spice while the medium bodied palate has a host of red berry fruit with some characteristic and intriguing mushroomy forest floor notes. Very enjoyable indeed. Thanks to Kate Goodman, the winery owner and Wines and Books for the chance to try this one.
Lucinda Estate Pinot Noir
A top Pinot Noir by Lucinda Estate from South Gippsland. Smoky spicy cherries on the nose; earthy mushrooms and red berries on the palate. Enjoyed this at top little Brisbane bar, Wine Therapy.
